The Jossen
JoriHermsenProductions in collaboration with Zone 1380
Twelve Jossen live in a complex world and yearn for a place where peace and togetherness prevail. They have created a world in which the love for Josdom is central. To ensure that, they have established their own laws and ideals. Together they seem to be well on their way to achieving ultimate happiness, until someone wants to step out of the group. While the danger threatens to lose each other and the Josdom, the Joss are willing to pay more and more to stay together.
“Are we going to forget the fat years that lie behind us laughing? Are we going to deny the high bloom of the happiness that awaits us? New! For we, we are richer than the seas deep. We have everything there is, we have – listen carefully! – each other.”
De Jossen is a physical theater performance, played in the HKU Loods, by 12 young people, in which the search for happiness is central. Director Jori Hermsen collaborates with choreographer Melissa Knollenburg and twelve young people on a unique, raw staging of the original stage text by the Flemish Tom Lanoye.
